AFC Leopards Tighten Security Ahead of the Mashemeji Derby

The stage is set for one of the biggest football clashes in Kenya as AFC Leopards take on arch-rivals Gor Mahia this Sunday at Nyayo National Stadium. With the tension building up, AFC Leopards are leaving nothing to chance and are set to finalize their security plans in a pre-match meeting scheduled for tomorrow.

This high-stakes derby is more than just a game—it’s about pride, bragging rights, and keeping the title race alive. As always, emotions will run high, and the atmosphere is expected to be electric, with fans from both camps showing up in full force.

Security & Ticketing Plans

With such a massive crowd expected, security remains a top priority. AFC Leopards’ Secretary General, Gilbert Andugu, has assured fans that all necessary measures will be put in place to ensure safety for everyone attending the match.

“The team is fully prepared for this battle, and in our pre-match meeting, we’ll finalize key details such as where each team’s fans will sit, ticket prices, and how they will be accessed online. We’ll also decide on the number of security officers needed to maintain order and map out seating arrangements for VIP and VVIP sections,” said Andugu.

A Call for Discipline & Respect

As hosts, Leopards have taken it upon themselves to ensure a peaceful game. Andugu called on Ingwe fans to be responsible and deal with any troublemakers who may try to cause chaos.

“We all love this game, and it’s our duty to protect its reputation. I urge our fans to be vigilant and ensure that anyone trying to bring trouble is shown the door. We are the home team, and it’s on us to make sure the game is played in a peaceful environment,” he said.

He also extended the same message to Gor Mahia supporters, urging them to support their team passionately but respectfully.

“This game is bigger than all of us, and I call upon Gor Mahia fans to keep things clean. If chaos breaks out or property is destroyed, the penalties will not be small,” he warned.

Leopards Ready for the Fight

Beyond the security plans, AFC Leopards are confident they have what it takes to secure a win in this high-pressure encounter. Andugu encouraged fans to turn up in large numbers and push the team to victory.

“Our squad is in top shape, and I can confidently say that we are going for the three points. I urge our fans to come out in large numbers, bring their families, and enjoy the game,” he added.

League Standings & What’s at Stake

Leopards are currently fifth in the FKF Premier League standings with 36 points, just six behind third-placed Gor Mahia and nine behind leaders Kenya Police FC. A win on Sunday would be a massive boost in their chase for the title.

All roads lead to Nyayo National Stadium this Sunday. The stakes are high, the fans are ready, and one thing is guaranteed—this derby will be nothing short of fireworks!
